Coming in August!
THE HEART OF MT HELIX Mt. Helix Park and Amphitheatre will be the site of the August 23 “The HeART of Mt. Helix,” an event drawing its inspiration from the art colony that settled on Mt. Helix in the early 1900s. Local performing and visual artists will share their talents in a venue like no other in the County. Beginning at 5:00 pm and continuing until 9:30 pm, the event will also include silent and live auctions, delectable hors d’ouevres, a special wine pouring by Presidio Winery and a gorgeous sunset over the Pacific.
A unique aspect of the event is “Bubbles and Bling,” a drawing sponsored by Enhancery Jewelers and Thornton Winery. “Bubbles and Bling” offers a lovely glass of Thornton sparkling wine and a chance to win a one carat diamond for only $35. Only 200 opportunities will be sold, guaranteeing one happy lady at the event. Tickets for this drawing are bound to sell out so buy your's in advance when you purchase your event ticket. Winner must be present to win.
Tickets are $50 per person for festival seating and $100 for reserved table seating. Reserved tables of 10 are also available for $1000.
A new Auxiliary, chaired by Mt. Helix resident Kathy White, is coordinating the event which is slated to raise $20,000 for the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of Mt. Helix Park. The Park, run by the Mt. Helix Park Foundation, receives no government funding but is open to the public 365 days a year. Funding is needed to keep this historic site a vibrant part of our community. Owners of Presidio Winery, Doug and Angela Braun, grew up in the area and are pleased to contribute to the Park by donating and pouring their lovely wines for the event. Presidio Winery has been recognized in the Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle for quality wines made out of organic grapes.
One highlight of The HeART of Mt.Helix will be the recognition of the Park’s “Hometown Heroes.” The two Park founding families, the Fletcher family and the Yawkey/White family, will be honored for establishing the Mt. Helix Park which is considered the Jewel of East County.
Music and entertainment will be provided by the Cat-illacs. (www.catillacs.com)
