Mt. Helix Park is located in the Grossmont-Mt. Helix area of unincorporated San Diego County, between the cities of La Mesa and El Cajon, just south of Interstate 8 and between Bancroft Drive and Avocado Blvd.

To drive to Mt. Helix, follow these directions:

From the West:

Take Interstate 8 East heading towards La Mesa. After you pass the Route 125 exit, take the Fuerte/Severin exit. Go to the top of the ramp in the right hand lane to the stoplight. Go through the stoplight almost straight (angles a little to the right, but not hard), onto Fuerte Drive.

Continue on Fuerte past the Brigantine Restaurant (on your left) and straight through the 4-way stop intersection. Go about 1/2 mile until you come to Mt. Helix Drive on your right (immediately after Lemon Ave).

Turn Right on Mt. Helix Drive and go one long block.

Option A: To go to Mt. Helix Park at the top of the mountain, at the next intersection (with Vivera Drive) turn right. That puts you on the one-way "up" portion of Mt. Helix Drive (the down road from the Park is also Mt. Helix Drive, but one-way going down). Continue up Mt. Helix Drive, going under the cross-over bridge until reaching a stop sign at the entry gate for Mt. Helix Park. Continue straight ahead into the park to the small parking area at the Amphetheatre.

Option B: To park at the lower parking lot for the Park without going to the top of the mountain, when you get to the intersection of Mt. Helix Drive and Vivera Drive, turn left. The fire station will be on your right and the two fenced lots on either side of Vivera Drive are both segments of the lower parking lot for people attending events at Mt. Helix Park.

From the East:

Take Interstate 8 West heading towards La Mesa, take the Severin exit, and at the stoplight at the top of the ramp, turn left onto the bridge to cross over Interstate 8. At the stoplight at the south end of the bridge, stay in the "through" lane, go straight and angle left, which will put you on Fuerte Drive.

Continue on Fuerte past the Brigantine Restaurant (on your left) and straight through the 4-way stop intersection. Go about 1/2 mile until you come to Mt. Helix Drive on your right (immediately after Lemon Ave).

Turn Right on Mt. Helix Drive and go one long block.
